Dr. Isotta Cainero accomplished her Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Genoa (Italy), and the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, IIT, (Italy) in April 2021. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Biology, in 2015, at the University of Genoa (Italy) in the Neuroscience department developing new drugs to address Creatine Defict Transport, CDT, disease. In 2017 she completed her Master's Degree in Molecular and Health Biology with a thesis in biophysics. In this work, she combined two Super-Resolution Microscopy techniques, Expansion Microscopy (ExM) and STimulated Emission Depletion nanoscopy (STED). In November 2017, she joined the Nanoscopy Department as a Ph.D. student in physics with a full scholarship from the IIT. In the first period of her Ph.D., she combined Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM) with an image reconstruction algorithm (SPLIT) based on MatLab code to reconstruct SIM raw data with a novel approach. In the remaining year, her research concerned the study of oncogene-induced alterations in chromatin organization at the nanoscale, using multiple Optical Super-Resolution Microscopy, SRM, techniques (SIM, STED, SPLIT-SIM). As a Post-doctoral Researcher in the Nanoscopy and NIC@IIT department, she is now interested in investigating chromatin organization in relation to Lamins protein involved in multiple diseases, laminopathies, aging, and cancer through SRM.
